Jamie’s Garden Services are aware of the scope and strictures of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and recognises the negative impact to industry and to wider society of slavery and counterfeiting within the supply chain.
We will ensure as far as is possible that no slavery or forced labour is used in any part of our supply chain by seeking written confirmation from our suppliers and asking them to send us copies of their implemented policies in relation to Modern Slavery legislation. As far as we can, we aim for a relationship of transactional transparency within our supply chain to ensure compliance with current legislation.
Where possible Jamie’s Garden Services will keep copies of supplier policies and review them with suppliers on a regular basis to ensure as far as is possible that none of our associate or supplier companies have any involvement with modern slavery or counterfeiting practice.
To this end, we have appointed a designated staff member to take overall responsibility for these actions, especially procurement processes and supply contracts under the Modern Slavery Act 2015 (section 54). It is also this staff member’s responsibility to cascade information and data to all senior managers to ensure that staff are kept informed of any developments or legislative change, and to ensure that all documentation is kept up to date.
Jamie’s Garden Services adhere to the ETI BASE code and ILO guidelines on best practice which include:
Employment is freely chosen - no forced, bonded or involuntary prison labour
Freedom of Association - workers have rights to join trade unions, labour associations etc
Safe and hygienic working conditions – companies comply with H & S regulations
Child labour shall not be used - the ILO has strict policies on this which we are aware of and seek to comply with Living Wages are paid - wages within supplier organisations are benchmarked to a national standard
Working Hours are not excessive – comply with EWTD or other relevant national/international legislation.
No harsh or inhumane treatment – no employee within supplier companies to be subjected to compulsion to work, physical or mental abuse.
We take our corporate social responsibility extremely seriously and are committed to ethical trading practices.
With regard to counterfeiting, we make every effort to ensure that our stock is sourced from reputable suppliers and that we have an audit trail showing the history and origins of goods we source and sell on. All stock is checked to appropriate quality and safety standards and we also ensure that our suppliers are members of appropriate trade associations subscribing to approved British/European standards.
We are fully aware that counterfeit PPE/Safety equipment is likely to be sub-standard and pose a danger to life, therefore we exercise due diligence when sourcing, checking and supplying our goods to clients. Provision of quality goods, manufactured to appropriate standards and providing the highest level of safety and protection is key to the philosophy and culture of our company.
